I LOVE the Stock Market, because I love to predict what companies/products/industries are going to become more popular/profitable or vice versa. I never felt like I had any $ to spare to invest and I didn't know how to go about doing it anyway. Several years ago I wandered into a Dean Witter office in Santa Barbara, got assigned to a Broker who asked me a few questions about what I wanted to do, I gave him a small amount of $, he invested it, I stopped giving him $ after a month or two, and cashed out. Sad ending. So, since the stock market is so low right now, I thought it'd be an interesting time to get back in the game. I went to www.ETrade.com, transferred $50 from my bank account, waited 5 business days for it to process, bought 5 shares of AIG and 15 shares of Sirius Satelitte Radio, partially because I think the companies have potential and partially because they were the only stocks I like that are less than $2 a share with no minimum purchase, unlike Google, Steel, Petroleum, Apple Computers, Dollar Store, Whole Foods, Water Co., Apartment Prop. Management Co.'s, Payday Advance Stores, CVS, Biotechnology, Garmin, etc. where it's $20-$350 a share and sometimes $450 and up minimum purchase. The only major flaw I found so far is that ETrade charges $12 per buy/sell, so it's not obviously not wise to buy $25 of stock from 2 companies total and spend approx. $25 to do it [$12 per buy per company]..... it's obviously better to buy the max [say, $250 or whatever] of stock and spend that same approx. $25 [$12 service charge for each company x 2 companys = $24] to do it. Unfortunatly, I don't have any money to invest, but I just wanna learn and see what I can do with $50 here and there. It's a way to financially support the companies I love too, in my own small way.

MY BUSINESS IDEAS - NEED INVESTORS/PARTNERS/BUYERS!!

Unfortunately, I’m “the idea girl”, not the “nuts and bolts business girl.” I would love assistance with the areas where I’m weak: Business Plans and Cash. I have received a LOT of advice that many, many ideas become profitable business with the involvement of friends/family/partners, so the least I can do is keep you updated with options.
1.) VEHICLES: Add 2-4 “easy buttons” on the steering wheel of every car, to PRE-SET CRUISE CONTROL AND ELIMINATE SPEEDING TICKETS and the dangerous distracting setting and re-setting of standard cruise control:

2.) RESTAURANTS: “under-the-table” napkin dispensers at every restaurant table. They never seem to provide more than 1 napkin per person and that napkin is to be placed in your lap….. who wants to wipe their mouth or hands with that 1 napkin and then put it back on their lap/clothing! YUCK! Irritating! Poor Service!

GOVERNMENT: Unemployment Insurance USER FRIENDLY website to provide a User Name and Password to access ALL info in individual’s file [rather than going through a ridiculous maze of redial for over 30 min. to speak with someone directly]. If banks and credit cards can do it, so can the government. It’s secure and cheaper than hiring thousands of new employees to answer the phones of angry people.

4.) Containers for HOMEMADE Ranch dressing at every grocery store.
5.) Rice Steamers sold at every grocery store, in the Asian Foods aisle.
6.) Pre-sorted “Best Fruit” set aside and charge a premium for the service at grocery stores that are not Whole Foods [Ralphs, Vons, etc.].
7.) Meal Ideas set up at grocery stores with all the ingredients available for sale at one location. For example: A Japanese Station would be set up near the seafood section, with either self explanatory directions or an instructor available.
8.) Sashimi selection sold at Whole Foods and Gelson’s.
9.) Whole Food’s and Gelson’s to provide GROUP OUTINGS to obtain groceries off the land and sea: fishing trips, farm trips for produce, veggies, and/or poultry, beef, etc.

People are too busy to make friends, but they crave it in their lives. 3.) Are you curious about the increasing attention in recent years regarding mental illness, specifically Bi-Polar Disorder? Our society has become more and more magnetized to “reality-shows/books” of all types. There is a void out there, perfect opportunity to make $$$ for a book/tv/film “reality show/film/book” of my experiences, my life story, as I grew up, then as a 22 year old girl, who was “normal”, popular, athletic, “intelligent”, “beautiful”, and then was struck with Bi-Polar Disorder. I think we could make some $$ on my story: past, present, and plans for the future. It would be educational, informative, interesting, inexpensive to produce, and extremely profitable. The easiest production would be a book, of course.

The owner could divide it however he/she wants. I don’t recycle much at all and I feel very guilty and frustrated by it. Our country/world needs to have "Populuation Regulation" with incentives for waiting and/or refraining from reproducing, especially when one doesn't possess the basic necessities to provide for a child, much less 2-14. I've been planning on running for U.S. President in 2020 for over 10 years now, so I can eventually put my solutions to the world's problems in action. We need more birth control options for men: a shot, a pill, something user-friendly. Doctor's should be required to obtain financial records before they provide in-vitro. I still don't understand why the media hasn't disclosed how this woman paid for the procedure and her cosmetic surgery. That is a very important piece of info. Norplant, or something like it, should be brought back to provide 5 year birth control via "matchsticks" tempoarily under the upper arm. It should be available to men and women. There should be incentives of a grant for a home/condo and/or college for people who wait to have children until age 30. There should be a huge financial penalty if someone has more than 2 children. Our freeways are so crowded, jobs/colleges are increasingly competitive, pollution is increasing, our welfare system is out of control, etc. No one should be eligible for welfare unless they are temporarily sterilized with Depo [every 3 months] or Norplant. I hate to see a pregnant woman with a young child using food stamps. It's such a slap in the face to people who have empathy.

This is ASS BACKWARDS. If someone is POOR, you'ld think they would abstain or at least have LESS CHILDREN than the RICH people, NOT MORE!! We are all frustrated with tons and tons of increasing traffic on the freeways and how this population explosion affects the environment, the economy, employment, health care, drugs/gangs/violence, quality of life, etc. Have you ever seen a pregnant hispanic lady with several children in tow, using food stamps? WHY oh WHY is this so common?? Even if you're RICH, having more than 2 kids, let alone the maximum kids possible in a lifetime, is draining on the rest of the world in every way. With all the illegal immigration sucking up resources without giving back equally in tax money, why do these people make it a million times worse and have a million babies they can't afford? Haven't the Mexicans taken over enough?? Everything is Mexi/Cali now, Spanish required at many jobs, all over commercials and billboards, enough alreadly. It's one thing to come over out of desperation, it's a whole other animal when they became the majority ethnicity everywhere. Why isn't anyone, especially Obama and Oprah, talking about this "greed"/chaos and implementing population control with incentives and consequences for having children, like China, Africa, and Latin America?? It's mind-blowing neglect.
Men need more control/options for their prevention of pregnancy/ies with birth control [not just condoms, they deserve more options like women do]. With all the men who've gotten a girl pregnant and ended up with the guilt of an abortion against or with their consent or child support and ties to the woman/child for 18 years to eternity, YOU'LD THINK OUR MALE-DOMINATED SOCIETY WOULD'VE COME UP WITH SOME MORE RELIABLE BIRTH CONTROL OPTIONS FOR THEMSELVES!!! SOMEONE COULD MAKE A TON OF MONEY ON THIS NEED IN THE MARKET.
Girls should be given birth control shots the day they get their period, whatever age that may be, and regardless of what the parents think their daughter will do or not do. Norplant was the best because it was implanted in the arm for 5 years, too bad it was taken off the market recently. Depo shot is the next best thing, renewing every 3 months. This should be available over the counter or at least a year supply to give oneself a shot at home. Too many girls forget to take their pill or don't realize it's ineffective when combined with an antibiotic medication.

5-10 min. delay for 911
I'm not trying to scare anyone, just informing in case you were'nt aware of this issue.
Some of you may already know this and/or it may not apply to you if you don't live in a super crowded city like L.A. You should check the hold time for your area.
You may have a home phone, but many people do not anymore, they have 1 phone and it' a cell phone. This mostly applies to unmarried people and/or people in their 20's. Married people often have a home phone and each their own cell phone. Still, remember to call 911 from a home phone or pay phone, if possible.
Can you imagine the horror/panic of having someone break in your home or some other emergency and you pick up your cell phone to call 911, but you're placed on hold for 5-10 min., and during this time the attackers found you and/or loved one/s and seriously injured or killed you/them and since there isn't technology for 911 to track the location of cell phones, no one ever knows what happened, unless you live long enough to endure the hold time.
It was a shocking wake up call for me and inspired me to pay almost $35 a month for a home phone [hoping to also decrease minutes/plan for my cell phone].
This is how I found out about this scary crisis:
I saw and walked past a VERY, VERY SMELLY homeless man a few months ago and wanted to get him some medical attention, and I didn't know who else to call, so I called 911. I was on hold for 5-10 min. and I was SHOCKED. When the operator came on the line, I asked him why there was such a delay for an "emergency line" where people are getting robbed, attacked, experiencing a heart attack alone, etc.
He told me there isn't currently technology to track the location of cell phone calls to 911, so if you call on your cell phone and can't wait 5-10 min. on hold, and the call is disconnected because you die of a heart attack or someone breaks in and you bleed to death, no one will ever know you called.
He also said the only solution is to call 911 from a LAND LINE [home phone or pay phone]. I don't recall if there is still a 5-10 min. wait, there probably is, but the point is that you can call and hang up and they will be able to track your location to help you.
My home phone is installed this Thurs. I live alone, and not in the safest neighborhood, and some weirdo knocked on my door repeatedly for several minutes late a few nights ago, so I think it's worth it. I used to have pepper spray too and don't know where it is, so I want to get some again. I carrried it on my keychain.
I suggest you call 911 and see how long it takes to get through. This is also disturbing if you think of being unable to get through for several minutes when driving through the L.A. area and you have a car accident. Yeah, other people will call 911 if you can't, but it may take 5-10 minutes to get through.
Why isn't this info on the news or Oprah???
